On Sunday, March 21, a comprehensive health care bill, already approved by the Senate, was passed by the House. The bill will give health care to 32 million Americans and save over 30,000 lives per year. And it will regulate the insurance companies so they can no longer deny care for pre-existing conditions, charge you more if you're sick, put limits on your benefits, or increase rates with impunity.

Over 300 health care supporters overwhelm 'tea party' protestors

HCAN Illinois learned of another "tea party" event outside the office of health care supporter Rep. Melissa Bean in Schaumburg, Illinois. HCAN and IMSA leaders, Organizing for America activists, 8th District voters and supporters of health care reform quickly mobilized in response. Over 300 people to show support for Rep. Bean and health care reform.

HCAN leaders drown out 'Tea Party' protestors at Rep. Bean's office

At noon on March 11, 80 HCAN and OFA leaders waved signs and chanted outside Representative Melissa Bean’s district office in Schaumburg. 23 Tea Party members tried in vain to compete. HCAN and OFA urged Rep. Bean to continue to support health care reform.
