Traditional holiday music had a political twist to it on Thursday at a local Congressman's office as lawmakers in Washington continue to try and reach a deal on the fiscal cliff.

Chicago, IL- Calling on Congress to end the Bush Tax Cuts for those making over $250K annually, Citizen Action/IL held a telephone conference featuring Rep. Jan Schakowsky on Saturday, December 1. During the call a small business owner, senior citizen, home health care worker, teacher and front line organization discussed the impact the fiscal cliff and tax parity will have on their families and businesses.

Sad to say, nothing they’re doing or talking about in the General Assembly will have a significant impact on the state’s chronic budget crisis.
Not draconian Medicaid cuts, not possible pension cuts or casino expansions. The legislature is barking up the wrong trees, and doing it over and over.
