Oak Forest Hospital to Remain Open - State Of Illinois Denies Closure

Today, the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board denied the closure of Oak Forest Hospital.   The Board concluded “The State Agency finding remains unchanged (from their March 21st report) from the original state agency report (to deny request to discontinue Oak Forest)”.  They stated the reason for the denial as the “capacity crunch” caused by an increase in intensive care and long-term beds needed in the planning area.  They go on to state that the lack of a long-term funding plan past this fiscal year and the number of safety net patients that use Oak Forest will have an adverse impact on access to care.
