Enthusiastic Crowd Rallys at Social Security Office to Prevent Cuts

Date:
07/22/2011

On July 21st, over 150 people gathered outside of the Social Security Main Offices in downtown Chicago to call a stop to the proposed cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and the Affordable Care Act.  Enthusiastic clergy, senior citizens, disabled Americans, and youth made sure folks in the Social Security offices, as well as the Senatorial offices across the street, heard loud and clear "Hands Off"!

A strong coalition from the Jane Adams Senior Caucus, Illinois Association for Retired Americans, Access Illinois, SEIU Health Care, Citizen Action/IL, Lakeview Action Coalition, among others is already planning their next event.  Special thanks to Jane Adams for taking the lead.
